‘Arrive wondering, leave smiling.’ There are over 40 water-powered gadgets, sculptures, toys and playgrounds (for adults!) in this whimsical wonder of a place. From fathoming the giddy sticks and flying foxes, to water-jousting on wooden steeds and spinning in the human hamster wheel, each contraption here is as eccentric, humorous and fun as the last. You’ll laugh, play and delight at this interactive and totally unique park where the novelty never wears off. Barbeques and picnic spots are dotted amongst the trees, lawns and streams or there’s a café for insanely good coffee and delicious home-cooked foods.

Get out the binos at watch the temporarily resident birdlife at the Firth of Thames near Miranda. Thousands of birds, especially the ones from Siberia and the Arctic, have flown as far as you have, but with slightly more effort, to reach these shores for some winter sun to breed.
Follow the crimson trail made by summer's blooming pohutukawas, the NZ 'Christmas tree', as you drive north up the coast from Thames. Cross over the peninsula's forest-clad mountain spine and come down the east coast's rugged coastal route.
