Known in the Addo area as The Music Boys, Kobus and Gerhard have been upping the tempo in the Sundays River Valley. They’ve both done time in the fast-paced record industry in Gauteng, but now they’ve repaired to Kobus’s family home (along with three pianos and an organ) to do what they love best: playing music, gardening and entertaining (don't miss out on dinner - the cooking is sensational!).....
.... Outside, the garden continues the musical theme. A bust of Beethoven surveys the perfect lawn and several of their 54 varieties of roses have composers' names, Edward Elgar and Benjamin Britten among them. Their palpable creative urges are certainly not confined to just music-making though. Rooms are all uniquely decorated, with one-off paintings, beautiful antique furniture and slaved-over original wood floors. Whatever happens, they don’t want it to look like a catalogue: even the baths are all different, with free-standing Victorian tubs and time-warping spas. There is a fully-licensed bar with a well-stocked library next to it, as well as an open sitting and dining area, overlooking the baby grand. Guests have even commented that the affable Horatio and Ophelia, their well-loved miniature schnauzers, were more of an attraction than Addo’s elephants!
