(Quite) A few years ago, Jill's late husband Shaun bought a Land Rover in Taunton (UK) and drove it here. Hardly odd when you see the place, now replete with relaxed family atmosphere and verdant lawns, lounged upon and scampered across by Jill's enchanting dog, Poppy. You get all the benefits of living the South African good life by default here. Green-fingered Jill genuinely loves having guests and her enthusiasm for life is evident in everything. The cottages are private in leafy, jasmine-scented gardens and have fully-equipped kitchens stocked with basics, a braai and stunning views to the mountains on the right and False Bay in the distance. They have terracotta or wood floors and beds with warm duvets or hand-made patchwork quilts - perfect for families. All are fully serviced except at weekends. Evening pool-side views at sunset and moonrise, helped along by wine from over-the-hedge Groot Constantia vineyard, will make you want to throw away the car keys and stay (which is exactly what Shaun did when he first clapped eyes on the place). When you are hungry, Jill will send you off there through the back gate and across the vineyards to Simon's or Jonkershuis for dinner. Return by torch - and moonlight. Dendron (Greek for tree) is a small slice of heaven.
