Tucked away in a sleepy cul-de-sac, Morningside Cottage provides its guests with a quiet central base from which to explore the Cape Peninsula. Within a ten-minute radius you have beaches, golf courses, mountain and forest walks, wine farms and many of Cape Town’s favourite eateries.....
.... Originally a farmhouse, Morningside is full of Cape cottage charm with its thatched roof, whitewashed wooden ceilings and cottage pane windows. Days start with a generous full English breakfast on the poolside patio where a symphony of birdsong is conducted by tree squirrels searching for acorns in the lush garden. On cold winter days breakfast is taken indoors, a much cosier affair next to the log fireplace. On returning to your room you are greeted by fresh St Joseph’s lilies, a little touch typical of Ursula who also trains local women to become registered guesthouse housekeepers. Each room has its own patio or small private courtyard where you can enjoy a glass of local wine while you tally up the day’s birdies and bogeys. A rejuvenating dip is an almost compulsory afternoon ritual to soak weary feet and sunburnt skin, and a good time to get your orders in for dinner reservations, tee-off times and any other arrangements that the English-, French- and German-speaking team are happy to help with. If it’s local Cape charm you’re after, look no further. Morningside has oodles.
