Winelands Chocolate Festival
Winelands. Chocolate. Festival. I rest my case.
Cape Town had an unseasonal visit from the Cape Doctor this week, a howling South Easterly wind that well and truly blows the cobwebs away. But low and behold, just when you think the only thing to do is stay indoors and hibernate, you discover that there is a chocolate festival happening just up the road this weekend...
The Chocolate Festival will be a sophisticated affair, with pastry chefs, Master Chocolatiers, chocolate artists and cake decoration specialists. Indulge in some retail chocolate therapy, enjoy a Lindt Afternoon Tea and learn more than you ever needed to know about the world of chocolate in the Chocolate Theatre.
If you're going to eat chocolate all day, you may as well really go for it and visit a couple of wine farms while you're there... Plus, every Saturday between 9am and 2pm, come rain or shine, the Oude Libertas Estate hosts the Slow Market, offering gourmet food and treats that are grown, raised, harvested, created and eaten by local food lovers.
Then next week (preferably when spring has sprung and the wind has calmed down a bit), you and your chocolate-expanded waistline can rent a bike and cycle the entire Southern Peninsula.
Winelands Chocolate Festival, July 25th - 26th 2015, Lourensford Wine Estate
