local art, music and dancing
Langa’s Guga S’Thebe cultural centre was built in 2000 primarily to showcase but also incubate all forms of cultural expression evident in Langa. The buildings themselves, which were built with sustainability at their core are an attraction in themselves. Now, it’s a base for crafters, community theatre, dance, traditional dancing, choral training, music and poetry. Much of this work is professional but a lot is amateur level but at a very high standard. You’ll also find exhibition areas showcasing local and national art talent. We suggest taking a tour of the centre with Fatima Dike.
