Miller’s Thumb

Miller’s Thumb is a Cape Town favorite, serving fresh seafood in a cozy, relaxed setting. Known for its homestyle dishes and friendly service, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking delicious seafood in a casual atmosphere.

It’s owned and run by the inimitable Jane and her husband Solly, whose names have been Spoonerised above the bar into ‘Sane and Jolly’ – that should give you some idea of the informality and general joie de vivre of the establishment!

Miller’s Thumb (which is actually the name of a fish, normally called the European bullhead) specialises in sensational fish dishes, all of which Solly’s invented personally, and which Jane then relates with amazing energy and vivacity to each table in person. How she keeps this up after 20 successful years is beyond us but she does. Don’t worry, you can easily avoid fish here if you want to.
