first nations museum
Even just the sheer scale of the endeavour, which was twenty-two years in the making, of this spectacular site is worth visiting for. The brainchild of Ron Martin, himself a San, the centre is designed to both commemorate and celebrate the cultures (including plant knowledge, language, cuisine, sustainable lifestyles) of the Cape’s two oldest peoples, the Khoi and the San. It also serves a venue, museum and arts centre. It is First Nations owned and managed and is located very close to the city centre with beautifully laid out gardens where indigenous plants used in traditional medicine are grown. https://riverlands.capetown/culture/
