local dining
What makes SEEK Lounge so unique is that you feel like you’re visiting a friend. This might be thanks to its location, found on an inconspicuous road just off Mew Way. It could also be the menu, generous portions of traditional seven colours food: creamy samp, umleqwa (runaway chicken), chakalaka and the like are served from the kitchen that is open from Thursday at 12p.m. From Friday at 1p.m. however, things start getting exciting at the shisha lounge upstairs where local DJ and event hosts create an infectious vibe that gets everyone on their feet.
If you’re not familiar with the neighbourhood, we suggest you arrange to meet with a guide at the False Bay College to ensure you don’t get lost. The lounge is located in a safe area but there can be roadworks and other construction work that take you on an unexpected detour. Khayelitsha locals are well versed in all the shortcuts and safe diversions. The weekly Sip, Eat and Paint brings people seeking a good time together for a Sunday afternoon.
