Solms Delta

The Cape Winelands have a complex past shaped by exclusion and inequality, and the move by Mark Solms and the Astor family in 2007 to make the farm workers one-third owners of the estate was bold and truly ground-breaking. Solms and team also uncovered an archaeological history buried on the farm, now celebrated and preserved in the farm’s restaurant and tasting room.

Today, Solms-Delta Wine Company is owned by Tommy Hall and family, who continue to build on this foundation — preserving its heritage while evolving it into a modern, premium wine and cultural estate. The journey toward proper representation and shared value has not been easy.

Solms-Delta remains one of the few places in the Winelands where the original inhabitants of the land benefit directly from and form an integral part of every aspect of the enterprise — and the wines are exceptional too.
