fine dining experience
There is something otherworldly about The Conservatory at Cellars Hohernot. It is perfectly magnificent, spectacular and stunning. Whether you choose to dine indoors or on the spacious terrace, you get a great sense of being enveloped by the outstanding garden that is clearly meticulously managed. Considered one of the best privately-owned gardens in the world, the gardens’ landscaping team received a South African Landscaping Institute (SALI) Gold Award in 2024 and was awarded Relais & Chateaux Garden Award in 2010. Keeping such an impressive garden well maintained requires more than just manpower, the onsite borehole provides a sixable portion of water to keep the grounds quenched.
Open all day for both hotel and day guests, diners can stretch their breakfast into a late lunch or early dinner. Classic dishes such as omelets, waffles and eggs benedict can start your day, salads, sandwiches and souffles are on offer for lunch, as well as bobotie and burgers – amongst other things. Gnocchi and tuna tartare might interest other diners – though a dedicated vegan menu is available should guests be interested. All natural ingredients can be sourced directly from the hotel garden or from local markets and suppliers who use natural products only.
A must-try for those who have a sweet tooth is the creme brulee pumpkin tart, a happy marriage of two iconic desserts.
